Doing science in the future [5]

Hi everyone! Today I’ll sharing my ideas about why I’m here.
Since I was a child, I have always known science is my life. I didn’t always know what career I should choose (careers like literature and informatics engineering crossed my mind sometimes), but all my first priorities were science related, as science is the better way to achieve my goals. After thinking about it and exploring plans like veterinary medicine, agronomy, biotechnology, I finally chose biochem.
                So what’s the plan?
I pretend to study for long time, finish my undergraduate degree and then postgraduate degrees. I’d like to maintain contacts with the academic world, like universities, schools and that kind of stuff. I’ll definitely not work in the clinic area ‘cause there are rivalry with other professionals of another careers and I don’t want to be a simple salary man anyway.

I’ll, of course, do research. My dream/goal is to develop cures and treatments for diseases through biochemistry and my other interest, biotechnology. To reach this goal, I HAVE TO travel to congresses and internships (In general, all biochemists have to do that, is a very international career). And as Dr. Jorge Allende once said in a talk: you will travel for work but you can take advantage to enjoy the travel too. So, I expect to go to many countries in the future, being a scientist but also a tourist in these countries.
I expect to work in laboratories a big big amount of time. There is where the science is born, were you are in the frontier of the knowledge and can know things that no other person in the planet knows. But, also, as a scientist, is my duty to do scientific divulgation of what we discover and in what we are working.
In synthesis, I want to do research in something important for the life in earth (not only humans by the way) in the Biomedicine or related areas, but also I’d like to be part of a scientific divulgation organization (or maybe by myself, I don’t know how it will be the future).

All of this is not a common job style, but is my plan of a lifetime. I know that is hard to reach, especially in Chile, but if I have to pass through bad times to achieve it, I will. For science.

  2. It is a good idea to make an organization of scientific dissemination, so you can report on the progress in your investigation or about others have already done, we must grow more science
