Into an unknown series [4]

Hi everyone! In today’s post I’ll be recommending some series to watch in the future (because we all know that this university makes it hard to have a life free time).

First I have to explain I barely watch movies, I prefer series instead ‘cause I can connect with them more than with a movie.  Furthermore, I watch A LOT more animated series than real-image series. So, today I’ll write a little about two animated series: A cartoon series and an anime series. Let’s start.

Over the Garden Wall

If I had to describe this cartoon in one word, I’d choose beautiful. Over the Garden Wall is a Cartoon Network’ series first broadcasted in 2014. Counts only with 10 episodes 10 minutes long each one, so you can watch it whole in near two hours.  Because of its duration, is considered as a miniseries, but the timing is perfect. Its creator, Patrick McHale, worked before on The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack (2007-2008) and Adventure Time (2010-2017), as you can notice in the recognizable style.

Over the Garden Wall tells about a weird adventure that the brothers Wirt and Greg have to go through after they get lost in a forest and things start to turn spooky. They reach a place called The unknown, where a mysterious presence with an ancient secret is stalking around tormenting people. In the way, our protagonists find some other strange things, each one stranger than the previous one.

Wirt is the big brother, the logical one (most part of time) and serious, who tries to protect Greg throughout The unknown. In the other hand, Greg is only a child, innocent and playful, that doesn’t recognize the danger. Also there’s Beatrice, a blue bird that I’ll not describe because spoilers.

The series has a mystical and melancholic atmosphere that I love. All the scenarios are based on a U.S. classic style that fits perfectly with the tone of the story. In its short duration, tells a story full of mystery, funny moments, sad moments… you have to see it yourself.

In my opinion this cartoon should be more popular. It’s certainly a hidden piece of art.

And that's a rock fact.

Below is the opening theme, that’s beautiful as the series itself. Enjoy.
