My possibilities being a biochemist [6]
This post
will be something like a continuation/complement to the previous one. Here I’ll
be writing about postgraduate studies.
As you can
see in the post about my future as a professional, my master plan includes (and it’s an important part) the studies
continuity. Anyway, biochem undergraduate practically requires at least 1
postgraduate, as is very hard (especially in Chile) to get a good job being
only a biochemist without a specialty.
First of
all, I’ll do the master in biochemistry that this faculty offers. This is
something really good about Biochem in this university: We can do a master parallel
to the undergraduate, taking the master courses in the lasts years of career. Also,
you can get the undergraduate and the master WITH THE SAME THESIS (sounds good
no?). In this master we receive a buff in one of four areas: proteins, clinic
biochemistry, toxicology, or environmental biochemistry. I have not decided
yet, I like them all. Help.

| Since it’s easy to enter and near free, I’ll do this master definitely. |
That’s the
first postgraduate that I want, but not the only one. I have multiple ways of continuing
my studies from there. I’ve been thinking about obtain the pedagogy in biology
and chemistry here in this uni (principally because it offers both pedagogies
in the same plan of studies). In Chile there is the scholarship “teacher
vocation” for people with degrees. It’s free and it let you to get a pedagogy related
to your degree studying only 1 or 2 years, depending on what your previous
degree is. Well, I have not teacher vocation. But it’s free and I want to do
research; it’s known that doing research gets along with doing classes.
Other way
is to continue in this faculty studying the undergraduate of Chemistry and
Pharmacy. This isn't a postgraduate study, but I think it would complement very well my area of interest and
the 2-years common plan in addition to that I’m taking courses of that career (and
I plan to keep doing it) would make it shorter to finish.
Finally, I’m
planning to do a PhD related to Biotechnology-Biochemistry-Biomedicine. It will be abroad, in a country important to these areas. This is the most important part of my plan, because a PhD is absolutely necessary to be a great researcher and for doing a contribution to science and to improve the life of people and the planet.
As you can see, I have been thinking about this a big amount of time. I have so many possibilities, but I have time to choose for now.
That’s all;
see you in the next post!

I am impressed with how many plans you have for your future, I have one or two XD
